What if I can't do the walk?
As long as your health care professionals say it is OK for you to come with us, you are welcome, even if it means you need some help or may struggle. We all need help sometimes, we are here to help, we were where you were once and we understand how you feel. If you need a gentle stroll let us know and lets see what we can do to help.
What do I need to wear?
For the A walk you don't really need any special equipment other than warm and waterproof clothes, please do not wear trousers like jeans as they hold water when wet. For the B and C walks we would prefer walkers to have walking boots, good socks, walking trousers (quick dry material) and a walking jacket. If yon can please bring a hat and waterproof over trousers, we may be able to lend you some clothes!

About Hike Over Cancer
Getting that diagnosis of cancer is devastating, for the patient, their families and friends. From that moment a life changing journey starts it may be a relatively minor change if cancer was diagnosed quickly or it could be a more difficult journey that involves a loved one becoming a Carer. No matter how far you are on with your journey, we are here to help. We are a group who of people who have been where you are and know how you feel, we are here for you. It is well known that exercise and maintaining a positive attitude can enhance the effectiveness of the treatment.
Volunteer to walk with us!
There is nothing quite like helping someone by doing something that you love to do. We are here to give people with cancer and their helpers a lovely day out. All we need you to do is to come on a walk with us and talk. Cancer can be very dark for the fighter and their carers, but with a little help it is something that many people will beat and your friendship can make all the difference. Regular exercise is vital to everyone especially our fighters, the fresh air and the social interaction is like a medicine, your friendship can make someone feel better able to face their circumstances. To volunteer, please drop us an email and when we have walks to run, we will contact you, when you get our emails, simply tell us which dates and walks you can attend and let us make a difference that counts. our email address is hoc@trm-electronics.com or use this link Email Us. Thank you.
Exercise is a vital part of Cancer Treatment
We are working with McMillan and Sefton CVS and our first walk is going to take place on October 20 at Malham, Yorkshire. All the walks are fully lead by experienced walk leaders, all our leaders are either former Carers or fighters. Our B walk leader did a gruelling 10 mile walk when she was on Chemotherapy last year, her oncologist said that her fitness greatly assisted in a positive outcome to her treatment, it was her that inspired us to start this group to assist others.
